‘agony in the garden‘ marks bonneville’s first foray into the world of ceramics – a practice taken up following a hiatus from their work in the performing arts. this exhibition inaugurates the serial project ‘animals landscapes and saints’, which examines the lives and legacies of different saints, while delving into the intersections between mystical studies, human and non-human animal relations, and the enduring tension between civilization and the natural world.

‘moan upon the stones‘ is an exhibition that brings together drawing and ceramics. it is conceived as a correspondence with ‘agony in the garden‘. both inhabit a territory of exile – and yet they communicate. they correspond at the limits of what is possible, attempting to reveal what they usually conceal.
if ‘agony in the garden‘ focuses on the possibility of being present in moments where no easy promises exist, ‘moan upon the stones‘ searches for a way out of a state of tension – one caused by the anticipation of an ending. more than recognizing one another, they bear witness. they place themselves in each other’s place, unfolding intertextually.
