aunque no me oigas

durational performance

the performance unfolded on the balcony of the centre d’art santa mònica, located on the raval side of rambla de santa mònica. for two consecutive hours, bonneville stood at the balcony’s edge, facing the street, with their face emerging from a hand-painted cutout board depicting the image of a saint, likely saint monica.
one of the most significant autobiographies in history is ‘confessions’ by saint augustine. in this book, we witness his belief in the inferiority of women, viewing them as passive creatures and sexual objects. saint mònica was his mother. in this performance, saint mònica could, for a few hours or perhaps eternity, publicly address her husband—who abused her—and her son, challenging the prevailing sexist philosophy of her time.
