phantom head – and the rest of the body too
performance lecture
at first glance, the world seems keen to draw sharp lines between sanity and madness, between the spiritual and the pathological. phantom head – and the rest of the body too inhabits the space between these boundaries, probing ideas of holiness — and questioning what separates, or perhaps unites, sanctity and insanity.
emerging from the central inquiry of the series animals landscapes and saints — “what is, or could be, a saint today?” — this performance lecture traces pathways through the inner visions of mystics, prophets, and visionaries who, across the centuries, have stretched the limits of the real. the figure of the saint becomes a compass for exploring deviation, attentiveness to the invisible, and the courage to resist the normalization of thought.
